Wireless microphones

The use of wireless audio equipment is allowed in different frequency bands. This kind of equipment is for instance used in theaters or in production of live events . It is therefore essential that frequency access is simple and immediate

Users can find appropriate frequencies for wireless microphones in the Regulations concerning general authorizations for the use of radio frequencies, or apply for a frequency license in bands not comprised by this regulation. A large number of the available frequency ranges for wireless microphones are used by others on a primary basis, but some parts, the so-called white areas, can be used for wireless microphones on a secondary basis.

Frequencies for wireless microphones in the 510-790 MHz frequency band

The frequency range between 470 MHz and 790 MHz is the main frequency range for wireless microphones.
Norges Televisjon AS (NTV) is granted the right to use the 470 - 694 MHz frequency band for terrestrial digital TV (DTT).

Mobile operators have been granted the right to use 2x30 MHz in the 700MHz band for mobile services. In a transitional period, until other use is granted, the frequency range 738-753 MHz, which is part of the 700 MHz band, will still be available for wireless microphones.

Regulations concerning general authorizations for the use of radio frequencies authorizes the use of wireless microphones in 510 - 790 MHz on a secondary basis, with a maximum permitted radiated power of 50 mW e.r.p. The prerequisite for using wireless microphones in this frequency band is therefore that this use does not interfere with primary user of the band.

Find available frequencies on finnsenderen.no

To find available frequencies go to finnsenderen.no.

The list of available frequency resources in finnsenderen.no is for guidance only, and it is the user's responsibility to prevent the use of wireless microphones from interfering with other users. Please feel free to contact Nkom for more information on the terms of use of wireless microphones in the 510 - 790 MHz frequency band.

Purchase of equipment

Nkom emphasizes that the purchase of equipment for wireless microphones based on frequencies available at a given time in a given geographical area is at the buyer's own risk. The buyer is not entitled to compensation from the state if the frequencies are no longer available and the equipment can no longer be used in this geographical area.

Application for frequency license

Technical conditions for using frequencies for wireless microphones without obtaining an individual frequency permit are contained in Regulations concerning general authorizations for the use of radio frequencies.
In addition to this license free use, Nkom grants individual frequency licenses for the temporary use of wireless microphones.
