Broadband in Norway 2015

There has been a large increase in 4G coverage as 95 percent of the population has access to 4G network by the end of 2015. Access to high speed broadband increases, and approximately 82 per cent of the households have access to high speed broadband at the end of first half 2015.

An increasing number of households have access to high speed broadband over VDSL, fibre or cable TV network. The number of households with access to high speed broadband increased from 1.83 million in first half 2014 to 1.96 million in first half 2015. At the end of first half of 2015 approximately 1.34 million households held a subscription for high speed broadband.

These are some of the findings presented in the report “Broadband in Norway 2015”, that was published by Nkom in October 2015. The report is based on figures from coverage reports by Nexia, Nkom statistics and the broadband subscribers own measurements via the broadband speedometer www.nettfart.no. The report also describes the mobile broadband coverage in Norway based on 3G and 4G. The estimates are based on data from all base stations in Norway as at the end of the first half of 2015.
